A few months ago I donated old computer equipment to a couple of chaps who refurbish them & give them away to old/disabled people

Today I saw an add on Freecycle to say that they are giving away 30 computers

I know my bits were only a small part of this - but it is freecycling at it's best

fantastic!

not on the same scale, but we recently got a 'new' bike from freecycle for DS, passed down his old bike to DD, and freecycled her old bike. was so lovely to get a really appreciative email from the recipient telling us how much his daughter loved the pink bike.

Oh yes I love freecycle I gave away a bed (we didn't have room to store it and it will be years before DS goes into a proper bed) and the lady who had it off me was so chuffed that when she saw I was 8 months pregnant offered me her mobile number and said to phone her any time of the day or night if I needed bf advice! I thought these bf advocates only existed online - anyway I didn't end up needing her advice but we have been in contact since and have got quite a bit in common.

Have recently signed up to this. Got loads of stuff to put on there, not quite sure where to start!

I love FC so much that in 2007 i started up a local group as there was only one in the neighbouring area. and when i was pg this was too far to go.

My group now has.....8576 active members and is growing daily lol. I have made some good friends through it as well.

A lovely lady gave me an enormous pile of washable nappies before I gave birth - so these nappies are now on their fourth baby!

I find that people will collect anything from me as they only have to walk a couple minutes, but my parents can't get rid of anything as it's a much richer area and anyone would have to drive to get to them. So now they want to give me all their junk to freecycle for them... aaaah!!!

Just spotted this thread - my SIL has just been given a swinging crib and a bath/changing table combo by a Freecycler! Fantastic! She and BIL are a bit broke at the moment!

also love freecycle! there have been some threads about disgruntled freecyclers but i love the philosophy. I have given away stuff i no longer need and have received useful stuff too. I think it is a wonderful concept and even if there are very occassionaly some operating in a non free cyler spirit this is massively outweighed by the good it does!

I love Freecycle too, I wouldn't care at all if people sold on stuff they got from me, I love the fact that I can get rid of stuff without (a) feeling guilty, (b) having to pay the council to take it away if it is big or (c) having to haul it to the charity shop.

Mega love freecyle. We have freecyle road trips where we combine drop offs and pick ups.

Last week, in quite a large freecycle area they lived opposite each other [picked up a wireless keyboard from number 8 and dropped off baby stuff at number 11]. They met for the first time and had long chat while we all talked about freecycle.

Mega love freecyle.
