yes, but they won't rot. Or at least, they will eventually but takes way longer than other stuff.

well I don't think it matters unless you have tons of them!

I put mine in. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Mine are going in the green waste - I have enough problems with the small forest of cherry trees that hatch from the neighbours tree!

Though i think you can use them in heating pads (like wheat bags?)
