Can I put cherry stones etc in my compost bin?

yes, but they won't rot. Or at least, they will eventually but takes way longer than other stuff.

Mine are going in the green waste - I have enough problems with the small forest of cherry trees that hatch from the neighbours tree!

Though i think you can use them in heating pads (like wheat bags?)
