I have bought a 2003 diesel car, and found an ethical biodiesel site nearby. will it be ok for my engine?

the faq about it is here
It uses recycled oils to make the biodiesel, so no palm oil or growing crops for fuel instead of food.
Anyone with any experience of this? I dont want to bugger up my engine, but it wouldbe fab to be driving a carbon neutral car!!

We do this, well my DH makes biodiesel in a shed at the bottom of the garden. I have asked him to post on here when he has a minute.

I make my own to use in my 2000 Skoda Octavia.

What make/model is your car first off? Most should be fine, but some PDI/HDI engines can have issues with the viscosity of the oil. Some makes of fuel pump can also cause problems.

Soaps and other contaminents can be an issue in poorly made biod. Its worth locating your fuel filter and keep a spare one with you, with the tools to change it aswell.

Hmm, have you tried any yet?

You may be better trying a 50/50 mix first off. Ask you local dealer wether he supplies B100 or if he offers mixes aswell.

High pressure pumps can be a problem (The H bit in HDCi), it forces the fuel through at very high pressures to create tiny droplets. This makes it burn better. As biod is more viscous than dino diesel at most UK ambient temperatures it doesn't go through the pump aswell.

This can cause problems with the way the engine runs and in extreme cases can cause damage to the high pressure pump. This is very expensive to repair/replace.

That's the scary bit over, most cars are fine. I've heard of a few people using it in Fords nor have I heard of any problems with them.
