What can I do with old black socks?

I have just had a cull of DH's sock drawer and now have a small carrier bag of socks beyond darning redemption.

There is a limit to how many sock puppets I can make for DS or how many I can save for cleaning. Any other suggestions?

give them to a playgroup for socks. write a play first about ermmm a plague of black rats. They take over a town in germany, and nobody knows what to do, they get on to the mayor, he realises something has to be done but what? then, one day a stranger appears...

Madlentileater, that's great as it also gives me the opportunity to "donate" the bleedin' recorder someone was mad enough to give DS (2.9). Though I could solve my sock surplus and Xmas present problem in one with the sock monsters. Don't think I have enough for a bean bag, unless I can think of someone with a really tiny bum. Though wouldn't it technically be a sock bag?
