A swing, and they said the actual swing part of it was no good. So what are you freecycling, two bits of rope? lol

avenanap · 16/03/2008 23:46

Tentatively, can I just say, it is supposed to be about recycling, not freebies.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 16/03/2008 23:50

lol! Mind you, on mine a while ago there was someone offering a large number of ann summers items. Much as I care about stuff not going into landfill I don't like the idea of using someone's old lingerie/toys, so I was surprised when she posted the next day saying all the items ahad been taken, and thanks for the overwhelming response!

All I can think is it was collected by dirty old men looking for a cheap (free!) thrill as it was all used. Bleugh.

avenanap · 16/03/2008 23:51

Hmm, yes but the point of going to collect a bottle of unwanted lemonade is that it must be worse for the environment to go and collect it then it is for the owner to drink it and recycle the bottle?? There are some very strange things being offered though!

monkeytrousers, I think when you think of the petrol used to go and collect, say, a bottle of lemonade, it might be kinder to the planet just to drink the lemonade yourself!

It's just a jokey thread, we all know it's about recycling, not just freebies, don't worry.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 16/03/2008 23:53

ah, jinx!

avenanap · 16/03/2008 23:54

SheherazadetheGoat · 17/03/2008 07:59

broken white goods - i.e. we can't be arsed arranging a council uplift could some fool come adn take away our crap.

VictorianSqualor · 17/03/2008 08:04

Ah SheherazadetheGoat what if it's fixable?
We have a washing machine that has broken electronics, basically the wash cycle doesnt stop, unless you stop it manually and then go onto the rinses program.
If there was someone who was able to fix it they could have a practically brand new washing machine, we used it for 6 months, then it broke, but as we moved house where there already was a machine we left it in the shed, only to realise 6months later the warranty had run out.

SheherazadetheGoat · 17/03/2008 08:07

fair enought vs. but i am talking about the 15 yaer old fridge freezers with broken seal and the freezer part hasn't worked for 5 years and the remainders of christmas dinner 1996 is commemorated in a mould mosaic up the back.

VictorianSqualor · 17/03/2008 08:08

Oooooh christmas dinner '96, was that the one with Uncle Knobhead?

tissy · 17/03/2008 08:44

I Freecycled my first ever laptop- I think I got it in 1990, and it was black and white and had Windows 3.1! It hadn't worked for 15 years, but somebody still wanted it!

FourPlusOne · 07/04/2008 20:26

There was someone on ours offering loads of bits and bobs. Looked like she was just cleaning out her kitchen drawer and had listed everything separately: metre of string, 2 batteries etc - just loads of things like that! Was v funny.
