Stopping free newspapers and random flyers coming through the door!

Hello everyone

Where I live, we get 3 or 4 different free newspapers through the door every week. I never open or read any of them ever. Has anyone put a notice up on their front door saying something like "No free papers, thanks" or anything similar to stop people putting random flyers through as well? I get so much junk through on a daily basis and I try to get it all recycled, but the volume of it is quite shocking! Is it bad manners to put up a notice like this?? TIA!

Well I do Avon catalogues rather than free leaflets but IMO it's fine to put a note on the door saying 'no leaflets or free papers or cataloges etc' - if we know you don't want the stuff, we won't put it through the letterbox. Anyway, it's preferable to have a sign on the door than to have someone open the door and roar abuse at you because they are sick of unwanted paper through the door.

There are lots of them round here - usually an actual small plaque, i'd imagine you can buy them at key cutting places.

You can contact the offices of the newspapers and they will get you crossed off the round.

Doesn't help with the leaflets though.

My daughter doesn't put papers through letterboxes of houses that have notices up

The thing that annoys me the most is all the junk the postman delivers on a weekly basis (not the bills ); leaflets, random adverts, letters addressed to 'The Occupier'.

We have a very small notice in our porch, right next to the local authority paper recycling bag...the note says "please put free newspapers and advertisements in here"
Bag remains pitifully empty

We beat the buggers...

We used to have a laminated notice saying

'No religious callers or salespeople. Thank you'

Free papers or catalogues never bothered me (I like looking at them tbh)
