I am dreading using the buses with 2 children, let alone 4 !!!

see I'd like to be green on this issue, but an mpv is going to be necessary isn't it?
Is there such a thing as env friendly one?

It's pretty rare that all 6 of us go somewhere together.
We have a 5 seater estate and DH can cycle places, or taxi, or train it, if necessary. Recently we went out w/ friends and they took one of our DC in their MPV.
Mostly we walk, though.

We had a volvo estate for 16 years with two seats in the boot which was the best method and it can become a small van with all but the front seats down too although it was scrapped last year. Now with chidlren of such different ages we just rarely all go anywhere together and the older 3 drive anyway.

Pollyanna · 06/03/2008 18:39

we do mostly walk/use public transport as I don't drive (4 dcs). We have a zafira (crap) when we need to go by car anywhere.

needmorecoffee · 07/03/2008 16:35

we call them buses
we walk up to 2-3 miles but there's one bus an hour that is wheelchair accessible (number 4 is in a wheelchair)
But I'm ashamed to say that after 4 years of strugglng with dd's wheelchair and endless hospital appointments, we gave in and got a motability car 2 weeks ago. It only takes 3 passengers so we can't all go in it anyway but its only for dd's appointments. Its a 1.2 so the smallest I could find.

trains for camping trips

I have 4 dc and i am also a CM. I have a Mercedes V class (can be a 6 or 7 seater).

I couldn't do my drop offs or pick ups without it.

Not sure how enviromentally unfriendly it is,suspect quite a lot tho. Couldn't do without it tho.

pedilia · 07/03/2008 16:46

I have 3 DC's with number 4 due in June, I have a 7 seater but walk when doing school/nursery runs.
If I am going anygwhere on a bus route I do use the bus but otherwise I drive.

Pollyanna - what don't you like about the Zafira?

AnAngelWithin · 07/03/2008 17:01

i walk everywhere or get the train to town. we have a zafira but only really use it on the weekends. DH bikes 10 miles to work most days so we dont use the car that much. i cant drive and im not that bothered about being able to
