Disposing / recycling or reparing tin openers

We have two tin openers that are not working anymore. One of them is a basic metal one. The cogs have rusted on both. Tried oiling and that doesn't work so it looks like I'll need to buy a new one. Could I give the metal somewhere? I'd feel embarrassed about freecycling them when they don't work.

Our local tip has a special collection point for metal which is then sorted for re-cycling.

Thanks, I'll check ours out.
