Gallery style bookshelf in wood...any one got one?

I'm looking to buy a gallery style (open so that preschoolers can help themselves) bookshelf but can only find one in MDF. Anyone know of a company that makes them in wood please?

www.tidy-books.com do you mean this style?

mumeroo · 01/03/2008 13:33

Hello, exactly that style! Thank you. I am just checking with them that all components are wooden and there is no MDF. Thanks blonde, you're a star. x

If they are no goo you could look at community playthings (but not if you have a weak heart as they are quite expensive)

ha ha. I've noticed that there are some gorgeous but scarily priced childrens products out there. Thanks for the tip. Does Community Playthings have a website KatyMac?

here but take a deep breath first

mumeroo GLTC sell that bookcase

thanks Katymac and CarGirl. They are pricey but I guess avoiding MDF is. Yikes... trying to have a healthy eco bedroom is proving more expensive than I'd anticipated! Now there's a surprise. Thanks for your help.

Could you get a local carpenter to make you one?
Having it produced locally would be greener too

Plus it would be exactly the size and shape you want

It would be relatively easy to make with pine board - or you might get someone a bit clever who can recycle something

I could look into it... hadnt' thought of that. Actually a friend of mine's partner is a carpenter but they have just left the country (darn!) Still I think I will look into it as it would be great to also have something that would fit perfectly too. thank you xx

I was shocked at the price and got my dad to knock one up
