Are your neighbours very busy?

Mine are always on the go, they're not young, but they are constantly doing gardening, DIY, car cleaning, weeding (including the road!) and speaking to everyone who walks past them. They knock on everyone's doors at least twice a week offering veg and asking after everyone's family and what they've been up to, etc.

Some people would say that's lovely, I don't think so. I think they're busy bodies!

Anyone else have this? Any advice for how to not find this so irritating?

Don't answer the door to them. Ignore everything else. Be thankful they're keeping the street looking nice.

My friend had similar neighbours when she moved house and while irritating she said they were better than neighbourhood watch or any burglar alarm

I like having engaging neighbours who I can chat to whenever. I used to love living in a house where I had a front garden. I spent many days out there pottering and chatting to passing neighbours. For me it adds to my life and it’s not a negative.

I don't have neighbours quite like that, but if i did I'd probably find it a little bit irritating too. I don't really like that about myself though. I shut my windows or move rooms if I can hear conversations outside ( it's not noise that I object to, but hearing every word of someone else's conversation) As a result I try to speak very quietly outside.

In theory I like the idea of checking in on neighbours- and have done sometimes with the older ones. But I cherish my peace at home and like to socialise outside of it.

They sound fab! I would probably feel rather ashamed sitting on my bum when there are jobs to be done but I like that they are proactive and neighbourly.

I would want to be more like them so would probably get more done !

Every community needs a mix of people, chatty energetic involved types and quieter less outgoing people.

They sound great. It doesn't mean they are busy bodies. They are just different to you.

Apart from the knocking on doors and offering veg, you have just described us!
That said, much of our CDS are much the same (despite being different ages/family groups) so to us it looks quite normal.
