So latest article in the Daily Mail….. this time the daughter and son in law have made up some bollocks about needing a spa built in their garden in the name of the charity……

This whole Captain Tom saga has been one mess after another. I really hope they make an ITV drama about it like the guy who faked his own death by going missing on a canoe

TBH I was always very cynical about the daughter, particularly after making him go on that Caribbean’ bucket list’ holiday that sadly finished him off.

If I'm honest I've only really seen the headlines on this current saga. I don't think there's any claim that charity money was used for the spa but that somehow they used Captain Tom's name to raise it?

Yes, there was something very odd about the daughter from the beginning, although of course the attention did help raise all that money.

They're ripping it down

They said on the news that the Tom Moore foundation was no longer taking donations and was being investigated.

I recalll thinking it was odd that they too him on a long haul holuday -
he was a hundred and people weren’t really travelling then.

What he did was remarkable. Shame it’s been tainted now.

if they do have to tear their spa down then I feel a day out coming up to go watch!

I just can’t really work out what the family think they’re doing. This whole thing was so public any mistakes/misuse was going to be very easily spotted.
It’s tainted something that was a really positive focus for many during a testing time.

The article I read was that applied for a new building for offices for the foundation, but then put a spa in. They applied for retrospective planning permission, but it got turned down, hence they had to remove it.
