an alternative filling for beanbags

I'd like to refill our lovely huge and comfy beanbag we bought just before ds2 was born, but I'm unhappy about buying polystyrene beads. I have read somewhere that they can be made from recycled polystyrene but a little hunt on the internet hasn't come up with any suppliers in the UK. Any other suggestions? I'm rather wary of trying anything that might sprout or go mouldy, as we inevitably have quite a few leaks and spills on it.

I may have solved my own problem, have found a UK farm which sells buckwheat hulls

although they are not cheap.
