Hi everyone, I hope you can share with me what you give as presents.

I'm thinking a tree for my SIL and not too sure what to send my Mum who lives in the US, maybe they have a similar thing there?

My family is sadly quite materialistic and as well as having a green way of life, we are skint, due to working part-time and covering nursery fees.

Anyway, share your tips.

we have family members who live miles from anywhere on a remote island and they send 'oxfam unwrapped' gifts. so far in our names we have a goat, some chickens, a small piece of forest and some school books i think! this means that they can shop on the internet and don't have the hassle of posting etc, and we - who don't really need most of the pressies we get at xmas, birthdays etc, they're just nice-to-haves - get to feel good about it! not sure if this is close to what you were thinking, but could be a good solution as no-one could be ungracious about such a gift, could they??
