What to do with chipped crockery

I've got two ceramic mugs which have been chipped and would be a hazard to use. I can't give it to a charity shop. Do people just bin them? I'd like to know whether it can be reused or recycled in some way.

Toothbrush mugs. Mugs for water when the kids paint. Plant tiny pansies in them (that looks cute) Smash them and make a mosaic .

There, theres 4 for you!

I'm going to set up a smash the china stall at the church fete this year, hopefully will gather lots of chipped china over the next few months

broken pottery is useful for putting in the bottom of planters before filling with compost. It improves the drainage.

It's a cool site, isn't it?

I love it.

Minum- our smash the crockery stall is a great favourite at the summer fete! Loads of stuf donated too as everyone did the same as boogie & donated their assorment of odd mugs /plates.

We took the bits to the dump-ok it goes into landfill but at least it will eventually rot down.

Botbot · 25/02/2008 13:18

Yep, give them to somebody who gardens. All ours get put in a box in the greenhouse marked 'crocks' and go in the bottom of planters.

Some nice mosaics?
A garden path? A picture/ mirror frame
