Buying new when you can't find 2nd hand

I've been looking for something I want for 15 months pretty constantly on Facebook and eBay minimum of twice a week

At what point do you give up and buy new?

It isn't essential it would just make my job a lot easier but my work is about re-using and recycling so it seems a bit two faced

Depends what it is, what it's made of, where you've looked, whether there are other options, how environmentally sound the new option is, how long it'd last, how much it costs, all sorts of things!

Thanks its hard isn't it

It's a trailer for selling at markets
I imagine it will last 20-25yrs based on the ages of the ones I am looking at
Not a clue what it's made of! I guess metal and fibreglass

I really really want a second hand one, buying new seems so wrong

Someone has to be the one to buy new.
Is there some where that hand makes trailers or makes them out of recycled stuff?

thinkningaboutit · 26/03/2021 08:35

Could you contact the manufacturers and ask if the have any display or reconditioned ones available?

KatyMac · 26/03/2021 08:49

I have been checking on the manufacturers sites for returns etc

I hadn't thought of a recycled trailer- off to Google now

The type I want are quite rare & I have found someone who will convert something similar or a caravan

It isn't even that I can't afford the second hand ones - there just haven't been any suitable

Do you have a picture of the sort of thing you're looking for?

But to answer your question. I think if you can't find one, getting one made or adapted with recycled materials would be a good alternative wouldn't it?

KatyMac · 26/03/2021 10:21

Well I do but my isn't posting it

A lightweight version like this (up to 997kgs)

Converting a caravan is fine - I have someone who can but they won't work on a damp caravan

A guy down south does bespoke caravan conversions but he hasn't replied since covid
