I mentioned to the headteacher today an idea about recycling and she looked at me gone out basically ,then said she would speak to the goverors about it.

Basically I was wondering if there could be a recycling station in the school grounds I'm sure this would have benefits as we live in quite a poor area and lots of people dont have their own transport some benefits I can think of are

teaching children the importance of recycling

parents could take the stuff on the way to school therefore taking away the need for an extra car journey or any car journey at all.

A certificate or small prize for the chilren who do the most recycling each term.

I could really see this working and I find it hard to recycle as there is no where near us but if it was in the school grounds it would be so easy ,I'm also sure this would be easy enough to work in most primary schools what do you think, good idea or non starter??

There is a clothing recycling large metal bin thing at my daughters primary school. I think it's a great idea, though glass and cans would probably cause health and safety issues on the school grounds. Good luck!

It is a good idea. I think we bought a guide dog with milk bottle tops when I was at school

I like the idea in principle, but there are a couple of things to consider.
ie, whether the local council would let them have one or if they would have to pay to get one installed.
how would it be emptied? is there enough access for a lorry to get in to take stuff away?

theres glass recycling bins outside the village hall where the pre-school is and right next door to the infant school in my village.
your reasons seem sound to me (not sure about the cert for most recycling tho, could have kids recycling stuff theyre not allowed to take in! )
