I'd like to cut down on waste (especially plastic) but love sparkling water. Can anyone recommend a sparkling water maker other than sodastream?

Hi there,

There is a new company selling reconditioned Mid Century Soda Syphons on EBay, you charge up your water in them with carbon dioxide capsules, which are widely available. Lots of styles and colours to choose from. ebay.co.uk/usr/recon_syphons
You can also email them for advice:-

Enjoy 😉

Hi there yes the iconic mid century soda Syphons are still around and you can use them to charge up your water with carbon dioxide to make it fizzy. You can have a look on this site www.sparklets.net/ too for more info, if you like, but to buy sanitised reconditioned Syphons guaranteed for at least a year you need to head to the eBay site two messages ago. Also, as no more plastic was used in their manufacture (unlike soda stream of course) it is a sustainable way of re using something stylish and cutting down on single use plastic at the same time. I like to can pair my fizzy water with ‘tonic syrups’ in my G&T. Cheers

LaBourrique. They look good. What volume of water do they make? Do you use them everytime you want fizzy(soda?)water or make a batch up?
What are 'tonic syrups'? Thanks.
