You know, those 1 litre cardboardy, silver lined things UHT stuff comes in, can I recycle them as paper/cardboard? (Loving the threads about composting, awaiting delivery of ours, nearly full bin in garden already!)

no, you can't recycle them as cardboard. Some supermarkets have purple recycling bins for them - our Waitrose and sainsbo's do.

Some local or county councils have recycling facilities for them, too. Have to Google/phone up.

Thanks, will have to look into it, seem to get through so many.

If nothing local, have a look on Tetrapak's website. They have details about recycling them. But in many areas, it involves rinsing them out and posting them to Tetrapak's own facility.

The recycling bit is here:

they have just started to here, have a big black recycling bin for them so i am sure they will be in your area soon

Thats fab news. I had a look on their web site and theres one at the Sainsbury's we use. We have kerbside collection for many recyclables but not for tetrapaks.

Our local Tesco has just set up a big recycling point and it includes a section for these Tetrapak. Unfortuantely they don't give you green points like they do with the bottles and jars!

Yes, I just noticed a bin at our recycling centre last week. Haven't saved any cartons yet though

I've been taking them to Tesco's (actually making DH do it on the way to climbing, along with the card and plastic that stupid Barnet won't kerbside collect
