Hair dye for covering grey

Can anyone recommend a dark brown hair dye that doesn't contain disposable plastic and loads of chemicals? Currently looking at indigo powder - any recommendations for stockists? I tried it years ago and wasn't blown away, but that was before I started going grey! Not ready for full-on badger look yet.

What about henna?

Not for quite a while I'm afraid - pre greys.

A very good hair colour is French called Beliflor, it is low in the nasties and leaves my hair in BETTER condition that usual! It does need to be left on for an hour (though they say 30\45 mins) to cover the greys for more than a couple of weeks.

It does come in the usual plastic bottles but they can be recycled.
