DIY washing powder recipes?

Any recommendations?

I have been using Aldi non bio powder but ideally want to switch to something more eco but not £££. The eco ones I’ve seen are way more per wash, so thought about making my own but don’t know where to start. And Pinterest could lead me down a rabbit hole of buy useless stuff to try out the zillions of recipes there. Confused

What can you recommend?

I can't remember where I got this from, but I copied and pasted a recipe that used what I had 'in stock':

500 g of soap grated
2 kg soda crystals
500g Bicarbonate Soda
2.5kg Borax
30 drops essential oil (optional – it’s going to be washed away)

You can omit the borax if you don't like the idea of using it, and reduce the soda crystals if you live in a soft water area. I used to use this a long time ago and found it worked well. Have just made up a batch and mixed it with the half a box of Aldi bio powder I had left. Just used on bedding and it's removed all evidence of cat having vomited over the duvet cover.
