Make up remover and wipes

I am gradually making the swap to more ethical choices. Currently coming to the end of some disposable face wipes and want an alternatives. Decided I could easily sew up some wipes/pads - anyone done this or have any tips on what types of fabric to use. I have loads of scraps.

But what about make up remover? Went to an ethical shop and it was £17 and still in a plastic bottle. Has anyone had any success making their own or can recommend something in a glass bottle?

Hot cloth cleanser and muslin cloths? Liz Earle's stance doesn't seem terrible, but they do use plastic, so perhaps if that is really important then maybe not for you m.lizearle.com/h5/hub?id=%2Four-philosophy

I bought reusable cotton pads on eBay. Thick fleecy cotton have been the best.
For remover you could try oil (olive, almond, coconut etc) Whatever you can get your hands on in a glass container.

Emma hardie amazing face cleansing balm is in a glass tub (plus it's brilliant). Not sure on the ethics of the brand though.

Thanks for the recommendations - I will check them out. I ran up a test batch of wipes using some scrap cotton (quite thick) this afternoon and will see how I get on. I like the idea of fleecy cotton, but will see how I get on with what I have made first.

I bought cheeky wipes to use for make up. They’re meant for baby wipes but I can’t bring myself to use them on ds. I have about 50 of them so maybe one day I will but right now....nope.

I find good old fashioned flannels work well.

I use coconut oil and bog standard old flannels.

It works brilliantly and it’s as cheap as chips.

Wipes in any form are terrible for your skin, especially round the eyes.

They drag and that's a big problem. I've used cotton wool and cleanser forever.

Interested in looking into alternatives that don't include plastic bottles but I'm sticking with cotton wool.

And Body Shop cleansing balm comes in a tin.

I second Liz Earl Hot cloth cleanse. I use it with flannels which are 75p each from John Lewis. It does come in a plastic tube but it lasts for months and does a great job. Removes make up quicker and better than wipes IMO. Apparently Superdrug do a dupe too, but not sure what it’s called.

I like your wipes! My aunt made some cotton flannel ones for my baby and they are brill!

For my face, I just use a washcloth/flannel and sunflower or grape seed oil. My Neal's Yard beauty book recommends almond oil which I've used, but it's more expensive.
