I think of my Indian grandmother at times like this.

I remember we had this total lunar eclipse when I was eight, and she was all keyed up.

'It's a bad omen! It's a bad omen!'

The oil shortage and then the crash came soon thereafter and she'd always say, 'I told you that eclipse was nothing but a bad omen!'
