Help me with Freecycle etiquette please

I have just listed my first item on Freecycle. Should I offer it to people on a first-come first served basis? Two people have contacted me so far. TIA

I would answer the person whose email came in first, not that anyone would ever know...

they often send round messages saying please don't give to the first person who answers.

My inclination would be to give it whoever is nearest or has to go least far out of their way to pick it up - adds to the "greenness" of the whole thing
