This is the latest newsletter from Manchester Biodiesel Garage
"Hi all
it with great regret that I have to inform you that the Green Gold garage
is sadly closing, on Saturday 27th January. Despite a lot of great
successes and progress, we have unfortunately not been able to make the
project viable, and we have had to cope with lots of unforeseen problems
and barriers.
However, we feel we have moved the biofuel scene, especially in
Manchester, forward a great deal and have demonstrated the possibility of
adopting more sustainable and carbon nuetral transport fuel. We have
saved at least 350 tonnes of CO2 emmissions from entering the atmosphere
and helped improve local air quality in Manchester, as well as supporting
the local economy and promoting fair trade and organic produce and other
local projects.
We are certainly hoping to be able to develop alternative ways of helping
people use biodiesel in Manchester, but this is likely to take some time.
So, in the last week and a half, we are encouraging people to come and buy
fuel and 'take away' containers which we are selling cheap, so they can
use greener fuel through February, by the end of which we will try to have
at least a temporary solution in place. We hope to keep everyone informed
using our email lists and will update the website in February.
We also need to clear the shop of all remaining stock by 27th jan, to help
minimise our losses, so please come by and help us out! We also have
affinity schemes with Ecotricity and the Phone Coop, which you can use to
help us and the climate out further! Please come by or call us for
details
Many thanks for all the interest, support and good wishes that we have had
from so many of you.
All the best for the future
Matt Favier and the Green Gold team"
