Can anyone recommend shampoo, conditioner and maybe kids bubble bath and shampoo products that are as toxin free as possible? I use very few beauty products and stick to the bare minimum as it is but would like the products I do use to be as healthy as possible. I know many of the brands are very expensive but if anyone can recommend one that is okay value and perceived as a good one for families, I'd love to hear about it.

Hmm I would've said Body Shop and Lush? More for ethics than toxin-free I suppose but they might have less nasties in?

it's all tested to be suitable on humans and has no 'toxins' unless you swallow it in large quantities.

watch for eco-babble; any use of the words 'toxins', 'chemicals' or 'natural' is a red flag. Anything 'chemical-free' is an obvious total lie!

Specialsubject, which are you recommending? Yeah, I'm pretty scathing about eco-babble. I guess I'm looking for something that has minimal ingredients and ones I know! I should just mush an avocado into my hair or something and be done with it.

Moogoo products are milk-based and designed to be edible (ie. safe should a child accidentally imbibe them).

And if you want to use real foid, I've been using cold-pressed honey to clean my face for over a year and it's fantastic.

The child's farm products are really good, some Boots stock it.

For the sensible price range I recommend the organic range in Holland and Barrett - The olive oil range is really good. Childrens Farm is also good. Organic Surge is available on line and sometimes in TX Max.

Using the products wisely is better than chucking it around too. Ive stopped spending on endless products hubby rathers a bar of soap. My children arent overly keen on over washing at the moment that is.

Forever jojoba stuff is nice, not keen on the others. It's aloe based and most importantly to me no animal testing.

I've been buying bits and bobs from vegan sellers on etsy and haven't had a bad buy yet - worth looking?

Avalon Organics lemon shampoo and conditioner is lovely, and cruelty-free. Approx £5 so not super-cheap, but not insane either. Lasts a long time.

Child's Farm products are nice, and dermatological tested (natural doesn't necessarily equal nice for skin)

Lush use SLS in everything if that bothers you.

Have a look at www.biggreensmile.com they do loads of alternative brands and list the ingredients.

I've just started using bicarbonate of soda and then love apple cider vinegar to wash my hair. Best thing I've done! And surprisingly clean.
