Help - where can I get rid of/donate lightbulbs?

Our local tip has no provision. I'm talking about the ones that contain mercury - we have a box full, many unused and still in packaging.

I don't know if it is more ethically responsible to use them, or to give them to someone who can use them, or to try and find a place that can dispose of them/recycle the components and so on.

Any ideas welcome - thanks Smile

I tried to donate a large number of lightbulbs to charity after my xh left (he had a bit of a thing about buying them) but was told that they couldn't accept them as they can't be sure they still worked. The bulbs are still in a cupboard as I can't bear to just bin them.

Freecycle?

I'll use them!
