does it make a difference to you whether the zoo, aquarium or safari park is part of a conservation scheme or breeds endangered species?Â

part of me thinks that animals should not be imprisoned just for our enjoyment and should be enjoyed in a natural habitat.

however a lot of these places do a lot of conservation work and stop endangered species becoming extinct.

We visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Park a lot, and I am torn between thinking that the animals should be in their natural habitat and being thankful that places like this exist.

Quite a few of the animals that are there have been rescued from awful conditions in other zoos. They also have an extensive breeding programme, and recently one of the Amur leopards (a highly endangered species) gave birth to three cubs. The plan is to eventually reintroduce them back into the wild. Article here.
