Gas and Electric Bill

Hi

We have just argued with my partner about gas and electric bill issues - bill fee is more than expected. My partner has always told me that gas bill for cooking by hop after 6pm is cheaper and using electric after 6pm cheaper too, is it true?? I have used cooking quickly lovely warm dinner for my children after their school around 4pm for just 30 minutes or less. I have not really cooked in morning and afternoon so much, I would say cooking a day for 40-60 minutes, but longer at weekends.

I really need to know and believe my partner or not. My partner was more angry that I did not believe him about this bill issues cos I googled websites and did not find the answer. My partner still argued when I cooked for children after school. Warm meal is more important than just cold sandwiches, but partner demanded me to cook after 6pm, I would be more exhausted while being hungry. He never understand it.

I asked my friends about bill cheaper after 6pm, they never heard about it. Tell me please if it is true that gas bill for cooking by hop and using electric after 6pm is cheaper?

No , the only way you take advantage of cheaper electricity tariffs is if you have Economy 7 meters fitted so you can use "off peak" between certain hours overnight ie for water heating or storage heaters.

It is only cheaper at different times if you have economy 7 (which I'm pretty sure is electricity only, and that isn't cheaper after 6pm). Is he thinking of telephone rates being cheaper after 6pm?

Even the phone is only cheaper after 7pm now

Have to admit I haven't really thought about phone being cheaper at different times for ages as I have inclusive minutes.

But even if gas were cheaper after 6pm I think him asking you to wait isn't a good thing.

MirandaWest, I have not economy 7, I will look into it. You are right it is not a good thing about my partner's asking - it affects on our relationship! He is selfish that gas bill is more important than kids's warm meal - it is annoying for me! we have no phone at home, only mobiles. Thanks for advice!
