Nice areas to live

Hi I was wondering if anyone could suggest a few decent areas to live in Derby? Preferably with good schools and not too far out from the city.

Not seeking a mansion but just a nice area where there are housing association properties. Not wanting a council property so i'd want to avoid all t.he council estates and chavvy areas. I have a two year old son and just want the best for him really.
Any suggestion would be helpful.
