Will you sign a petition to save my mate's cobbled street?

I'm posting this for a friend whose street is in danger and needs signatures on an online petition for the politicians to take notice. Thanks to anyone who signs up.

"The historic cobbled street we live on is under threat by a developer wanting to turn it into a thoroughfare for unfeasibly large and heavy lorries during the two year construction period for a new housing development nearby. This will permanently damage the fabric of the street, not to mention the quality of our lives, as there will be no safe pavement left to access our homes. Many of us have small children.
If you would be so kind as to take a few moments to sign our petition, and urge others to do the same, especially anyone whose name might mean something to the local council, that would be an enormous help to us all.

Sign the petition here

Please note that the pop up screen that comes up after you have signed has nothing to do with us or our website, it is part of the software program that was used - please feel free to ignore."
Thanks again!

Signed we have a couple of streets like this in Liverpool and would hate to think of anybody destroying a little bit of history like that

BettySpaghetti · 21/07/2006 09:54

signed as I can't believe anyone wants to ruin such a lovely street.

SherlockLGJ · 21/07/2006 09:57

I signed.

However I spend too much time on here, I was just about to insert an angry face on the petition.

GeorginaA · 21/07/2006 09:58

Signed - that's just crazy

Carmenere · 21/07/2006 09:58

Signed, as someone who has a fair amount of dealings with property developers, I know that they will happily run roughshod over just about anything to make an extra point on the vast profit scale. Have chosen to remain anonomous though, just in case.

1973magpie · 21/07/2006 09:59

Signed. Outrageous behaviour by the developers - I really hope the residents win their fight against them.

Pollyanna · 21/07/2006 10:02

signed - I know someone who lives on that street too. It's very pretty, I walk past it most days.

ediemay · 21/07/2006 10:04

Signed. Has your friend been in touch with "Reclaim the Streets"? Maybe some imaginative direct action could attract media coverage?
