Tell me about your bike trailer commute

Until about 6 weeks before the arrival of DS2, DS1 and I had a daily commute of 8.5 miles each way to child minder near work, using the Co-Pilot seat (OK it wasn't every day in the final weeks!).

With the first snifter of spring, I have been thinking about getting a trailer to take both. DS1 is 3.5 and DS2 15 months. Trikes are out because we have nowhere to store one, the trailer would need to be a folding one.

I know the route well; about half is off-road cycle path, and the rest the streets of Cambridge.

Would appreciate your advice in case there's anything I haven't considered.

I do the school run with a bike trailer containing DD aged 4 and DS aged 2.
I have a Croozer trailer, which I love.
My commute is nothing like as long as yours, only 1 mile each way, mainly on minor roads.
The trailer is very stable and the children are cosy and protected inside.
It effects the balance of the bike less than a child seat because the extra weight is so low. However, it is significantly heavy. Mine weighs just over 40kgs in total with the children inside.
I can recommend it as a way of travelling, especially in the nice weather.

First 8.5 mile run under my belt, and it's downhill on the way home! DS1 loved it; DS2 fell asleep. Nice weather+Easter hols (less traffic)+roadworks on car route made it a good day to start.
