Saving on gas bill - nearly halved it... DH just told me how! Need to share!

DH just took our monthly meter read to submit it to our fuel company for our bill. He is very chuffed ( and secretly so am I - but cant tell Mr Smug pants! ) because it is almost half what it was last month!

Now, there are factors to be considered - last month we had a lot of snow and so the heating was on a bit more and it was school holidays so we were home to take advantage of it.

BUT - he said he has reduced the thermostat from 18 to 16! I am a very cold person - but genuinely hadnt noticed the difference!

So it may be worth a try if you are trying to cut the cost of your energy bill - (probably you have already done it!) but just wanted to share.

Is that at night too? Mine is not on at night as it would wake me up and my bedroom is fairly warm.

Heating is on a timer, so goes off at 10pm, comes on at 6.30 and goes off at 9am, comes back on at 4.

That's great news.

We've got a very cunning thermostat where we can programme the temperature for different times of the day, so we've set it for 17 when we first get up in the morning, then from 9 - 5 it's set for 16 (I'm at home a lot atm) and then in the evening it's set at 17.

If I'm cold during the day, I boost it for a little while and then turn it down again. We're used to it, but I have noticed my parents bring extra jumpers when they come to stay!

Thank you! (Runs off to tell MrSloggies....)

Its March so I've switched the heating off!!

I'll wait and see if anyone complains in the morning.
