Mercury in lightglobes

I want to replace my light bulbs with energy efficient globes. So I am trying to find out what are the best ones?

Any ideas?

This site says to your globes fluorescents bulbs are the best but then it says they use mercury!

I think they all do, they are basically toxic waste if they get broken! :(

We've switched to LEDs because of the mercury problem, but they are only any good for very directional lighting such as under kitchen cupboards or in the bathroom. Plus they are really expensive at the moment. :(
