Coat hangers, what can I do with them all?

Can I recycle them? I have tried the local charity shop, they don't want them, what else can I do? I don't want to just chuck them in the bin.

darcymum · 23/08/2010 19:24

I have just written wooden coat hangers on my shopping list for next time I go to ikea (god help me!).

Don't suppose you're in surrey are you?!

darcymum · 23/08/2010 20:51

Tescos recycle them in some of their stores :)

kellestar · 01/09/2010 14:17

I also spotted the hanger recycling for plastic hangers in tesco. I'm going to take some down.

Wooden ones are often desireable. I like decorating them for my LO's wardrobe.

Wire ones could be used to make a mobile, see if your playschool/rainbows/brownies are interested in them.

I gave a load of wire ones to my local dry cleaner. They were delighted to have them.

I return them to the shop if they are identifyable - especially with kids stuff as you get given so much and it always stays on the hanger (and the hangers are useless once they get into bigger clothes)

If I buy something new now I always refuse the hanger. Have noticed recently that more shops are taking them off automatically.

Oh, just found this after starting a new coathanger thread today Blush

I put them in the loft. They do wear out and you will regret it in six months when you have no skirt hangers left Hmm

Seriously, they are like socks in this house, they vanish or develop faults all at once. Hmm
