Do you mean an Oma fiets? Something like this? Batavus seems to be the most respected bike brands here in the Netherlands.

Yup, that's the type I mean - but Batavus too pricey over here I think (£500 +?)

Need something cheaper...

Gazelle are also well respected and a bit cheaper.

You can easily get decent Oma fiets second hand over here for 100 - 150. More like 200 for a batavus. Postage would be hefty but still maybe worth it...

I had some friends who went for a holiday in the Netherlands and came back with a Dutch tandem (foot passenger on the ferry, can take bike for little extra I think). . .
