Fluctuating confusion/delerium and going home

My DM has Parkinson's and had a couple of nasty falls and ended up in hospital. She's in a community hospital now, and is physically getting back to her baseline. However, she's got fluctuating confusion/delerium, some days she seems almost herself, other times she is confused and hallucinating/trying to climb out of bed. Will they say that she is safe to go home like this? If she seems back to herself could the confusion come back at home? They aren't sure about the cause of the delerium.

Hospital induced delirium is very common, and there's a decent chance it will resolve once back at home.

Unfortunately Parkinson's can also cause delirium, and that may fluctuate but won't disappear permanently.

One thing to look out for with hospital treatment is some drugs - especially some common anaesthetics and sedatives - can interact with the Parkinson's treatment or affect the Parkinson's itself. Symptoms include delirium.

So .... nobody can really answer this one unfortunately. Out of hospital and back on normal meds regime is the best chance of things improving.

Thanks, that's really useful @BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn . @Elieza yes, they've tested her and have treated her with antibiotics anyway, just in case.

Another thought re Parkinsons - the meds are extremely time sensitive. They should be administering every dose within 20 mins of the scheduled time. They almost certainly aren't.
