Just wondering if anyone could share
their experiences of organising repairs to the home of very elderly relatives?
So my situation is my mother is now very elderly, severely mobility impaired but still getting by at home with daily carers. She is mentally sharp but not capable of dealing with bills/finance in the modern digital world. As many carers may recognise, no one gives you a timeline for how long this caring ‘journey’ will last. This means that some jobs on the house that we thought would not need doing I her lifetime now kind of do. So complete new heating system involving a rip out, new windows… the sort of thing that means I think she would need respite care while it went on.
I see so many difficulties in this route however, I wouldn’t want house repairs to be the defining factor in forcing a move to full time care. I’d really love to hear what choices other people made and how it all worked out if anyone is happy to share.
thanks
