Worried about mum

I love around 6 hours from my mum and I'm worried about future coercion and financial abuse from a brother who lives 5 minutes away from parent. My mum is of sound mind at the moment but I worry about the future as my brother has form for asking for large sums of money and not paying back. How do I bring this up with my mum without making things difficult?

Tell her a story about something similar with the details changed and hope she is apalled?

Then gently point out how her situation has the potential to change to similar.

You might want to consider setting up Power of Attorney for her, then you can keep an eye on her finances. You can register a Finance POA with her bank.
I had to do this, as I have a dodgy brother. It meant I could confront him when I discovered suspicious activity when I checked my dad's bank account online.
