Best Incontinence Pants for Men

Dad’s in adult pull ups…the ones he’s using have a tendency to disintegrate & leave urine soaked cotton wadding everywhere which is causing mum much distress
Has anyone got any great recommendations for good brands of reliable disposables or are there reusable ones like period pants that work. Im
not sure expense is an issue at this stage.
I’m not sure if he just leaks a bit or has full accidents. I don’t think he can feel what’s going on

Buy from Age UK shop - they seem to offer the best absorbency and you can buy VAT free.

Vive active

Tena are good, has he had a continence and skin assessment with his doctor or district nurse, if he does that he can get pads on prescription and a disposal service. Would he agree to wearing a conveen, perhaps overnight, with a bag attached.

They could try using bed/chair pads too and a waterproof mattress cover, do they know why he is incontinent.

The incontinence is due to Hyperparathyroidism which messed up his kidneys & caused kidney stones. He was on a catheter for a long time but kept getting infections. They've got a convoluted system of mattress protector plus special absorbancy layers left over form the catheter days when it used to leak in bed at night. We think the HPT is back or wasn't all removed as his hormone level, back from a recent blood test, is through the roof. He's on a waiting list..it needs sorting yesterday of course.
Speaking to him today I think the issue of the urine smell might be that when he goes for a pee it's not coming out properly and probably runs down his leg and he just pulls his joggers back up..causing a smell. But then he did say that sometimes he can feel it running down his leg - the reality is he is unable to identify what the actual issue is.
I just did a 48 hout shift deep cleaning and washing the carpets (see previous post on ' carpet shitshow'...that Karcher was a good investment it turns out)
I'm off to Primark tomorrow to buy him 10 pairs of cheap joggers so he can just change them in the event on an accident. Poor guy, zero dignity and falling to pieces..he had a little cry at the awfulness of it all. Aging poorly is SHIT.

Have you considered a conveen? It's more like a sheath/condom and the urine drains in to a leg bag.

has he tried sitting to pee? it would help.

and maybe try double voiding like women do? (ie finish peeing count to 20 pee out a little bit more you didnt know you had!). and wipe with loo roll. my ex even washed his in the bathroom sink. he never ever smelled unlike most people do.

Another vote for a conveen

CarpetShitShow · 24/06/2026 09:40

Thanks for the conveen suggestion- will investigate & then have another conversation I never thought I’d be having!
