Parent in hospital who keeps talking about having to report a hospital stay. Definitely haven't done it in the past. Is it easy to start up again once stopped?

Only if in longer than 28 days.. although it rarely effects your pension credits.
I'm on PC and in and out of hospital.. two more surgeries coming up.. major ones.. but these days they like to get you home quick.

Worth noting that if a person is discharged and then readmitted within 28 days, the 2 admissions are linked together and treated as continuous, in relation to benefits which are affected (pip, ADP(Scotland), Attendance Allowance, Adult DLA etc)

Don't think PC is affected. Attendance Allowance would be the one you need to check I think, my mum had a bit taken from hers on review after a seven week stay. The government benefits website should have up to date advice.

Did she have to reapply or was it just paused and restarted again? The thought of filling out the form again fills me with dread!

No we didn't have to reapply. She was paid it at the time as I didn't know the rule, but she went straight from hozzie to a nursing home and I had to change her details on their system, fillled out a change of circs form which is just a short form. She was awarded the higher rate at that point but there was a long delay at that point, so arrears built up and the amount she owed back from the hospital stay was subtracted from that. I think the change of circs form might be used to notify them of the hospital stay too. It's nowhere near as bad, just a couple of pages.

I just phoned AA when my Dad reached 4 weeks in hospital and then when he was discharged to a care home and started self funding, very easy and no forms.
