Insurance for Empty House

Does anyone have any recommendations please? Both have gone into care at roughly the same time. The house is empty of contents now but awaiting the house to be sold.

Their present insurers have said that they don’t insure empty houses and I’m a bit stuck on what to do next.

Contact a broker. There are insurance companies who specialise in this. I'm going to need similar insurance in a month, and was given some quotes by a local broker.

Thanks @saraclara Thats good advice, thank you. Just sorry that you’re in a similar position.

When my dm died her house was empty and we insured through saga.

I used Saga for DM's house but she did already have a policy from them. There were some limitations on the policy but I can't remember exactly what they were.

Thank you Shanghai and Spacie. We’ve used Saga in the past for other things and found them useful.

I had to take out unoccupied property insurance last April and received some wildly varying quotations for the same cover; the highest was over £1700 and the lowest £366, which was with Adrian Flux.

I'm selling the property; Adrian Flux will refund some of the premium once contracts are exchanged.

Also, as a condition of the cover (and I think most insurers make a similar stipulation) someone needs to go into the property on a regular basis to check for any problems, and also sign a book (or sheet of paper) every time they visit. This could have proved a problem for me as I live over a 100 miles away, but fortunately the neighbours on either side have very kindly taken on the task.
