Elderly parents

Cruises with carers ?

Has anyone's elderly relative gone on a cruise with a carer to assist them?
But of a long shot, I know.
It looks like there are firms which help facilitate this - book accessible rooms and carers etc.
How easy is it to make friends on a cruise if you're just (carer aside) on your own? I can see it's a bit daunting but if anyone has any encouraging stories...
