my grandmother has dementia so cant deal with any of this herself so im trying to figure out what to do!

she spent a year privately funding in one care home but after the year her money was very low and so i applied to the council for funding.

She moved to a new care home about six months ago - as her savings were under £13,000 the council take her pension and fund the rest if that makes sense.

yesterday the old care home refunded a load of money that apparently she overpaid because they took if after she had left.

this has but her savings up to 20,000. So she is now over the 13,000 do i have to inform the council now and go through the financial assessment again?

I think they send you a form annually asking if there have been any changes and I would just declare it then.

I imagine the council already know, my mum used to say they knew what increases were on my dads private pension before she ever did

Yes you need to inform them.
