I strongly suspect something is happening with my mother but it's not presenting with forgetfullness. It's behavioural and mood stuff with her. There's types of dementia that doesn't affect memory until the later stages and it's behavioural based. A lot of people even GPs they are looking for a testbook style of forgetfulness. My mother isn't behaving well and I am finding it hard to get a diagnosis. After this morning's antics, I don't care what she has. A diagnosis would be great but I am not getting it. She needs a nursing home. She absolutely needs a nursing home after what she did today in the kitchen.

But how do I get her into one?

My grandfather presented as aggressive and also picking up every widow in the area, crashing his car still didn't result in any diagnosis to get him into a facility against his will, it took going to the off licence baked. Drs knew he had issues but the law doesn't allow them to section because they think he could be a danger in the future it's an emergency situation that counts. Got the deprivation of liberty order needed to make him go into a secure care home which he escaped twice from!

She was told last year that the oil tank needs replacing and she's ignoring that. She's also ignoring other issues around the home. We badly need a plumber. Anytime I get anyone in she becomes overly critical of their work.

I don't have anyone to help me.

I'm sorry to say my mum was at this stage for 15 years before she hit rock bottom.

Really all you can do it try to support whilst detaching, it's very hard.

Take her back to the GP. She needs her sodium checking.
