Hi , does Baylor know about financial assessments please ? I completed the forms weeks ago and haven’t heard anything , I’ve now had an Email from the care home saying that the last 4 weeks were paid by the council & now they want payment they’ve sent me a contract to sign and debit form
I dont have the money , and don’t want my relative moved . Any advice please I’m worried

Dont sign anything.
Dont pay anything.
Costs either come from your relatives money or from the council.

Thankyou for your reply we don’t have the money to pay it , I would have thought that it’s down to the council to sort this out .
i just can’t believe that we’re in this situation
I have chased them up I just don’t know what’s going to happen I feel as though I’m being pushed into a corner

They will do anything to dump this on you... it clears their desk so they have a vested interest in you taking over the bills.
Refuse, refuse refuse... all the way. Tell them to do the job they are getting paid for.
Stay strong.

I'm afraid that was our experience too. They had an obligation to pay MIL's fees as she qualified for aftercare once discharged from hospital, but a lot of back and forth time was wasted while they tried to push it onto the family by pretending not to understand the rules and hoping we didn't either. They didn't succeed. And in the meantime some other poor patient would have had to wait for a much needed hospital bed.
