My mum is in a care home and fairly demented. She used to be fairly average size but, after 5 years in the home, she’s ballooned. I think it’s because she’s totally sedentary and well fed.

I found some jogging bottoms she likes but have gone from size 10 to 14 to 20 and now the home are saying the 20s are too tight.

I’m now looking for size 22 or 24 but the problem is she’s also shrinking! So, any pointers for elasticated short, big wasted trousers?

M&S were our go to for nana, size 24 elasticated

M&S go up to 24, sometimes a 26. There's also Evans and supermarket brands etc... I buy a lot of plus size stuff on Vinted - lots of things there are BNWT if you aren't comfortable with used second hand for her.

I'd try Yours. Some of the trousers have different leg lengths and their straight leg joggers are heavy material and could easily be taken up.

They're not top quality but decent and if she's not moving around much would do just fine. I get a lot of my clothes from there and I like the fit and fabric. They have shops as well as the website.

Bon marche go up to a 24, have a variety of leg lengths and most if not all trousers are elasticated. Can shop on line or in store

I really feel for your mum around for you. It's not easy for anyone is it? Is she guaranteed to get her own clothes back? If she needs a special size, it's really important that she is the only one who wears them.
