Im sat outside the estate agents waiting for my brother. We are handing the keys to mum and dads house over for the new owner to collect.

Dad died last September and mum died in February.
It’s been quite traumatic emptying their home but today it concludes.

On to a new chapter and start preparing my house for move shortly.

Thank you for reading x x

Sorry to read about your losses. Youve done well to action everything and get this far. Best wishes.

Treat yourself to a nice meal/bottle of wine/whatever you like this evening. It's a hard road you've travelled.

Be kind to yourself this weekend. It must be a relief that it is all over but, as you say, bitter sweet.

I found the moment of handing the keys over so very final, it was really hard. Look after yourself and take some time out to process the moment

I'm so sorry! The close of this chapter of your life must indeed be bittersweet.

I hope your move goes well and that the next chapter of your life will be filled with happiness and peace.

Handing over the keys for my Mum's house was really hard. Not because I was attached to the house, but it was the last possession of hers that I was letting go of.

Toast your parents tonight with something you really enjoy xx

Sorry for the recent loss of your DPs. I understand exactly how you feel. We've cleared DPs house (our happy childhood home) and it's been on the market a few months. I had to fight back tears when the estate agent came round to measure up so knew I couldn't face showing viewers round. I will be in bits when the sale is concluded. To hand over the keys to a new family feels so final and the end of an era, but it's time for another family to move in and make some happy memories in their new home. Raise a large glass tonight to their memory

This was us 4 weeks ago. Family home of 57 years. Amongst the tears along the way, we howled at the treasures we found and the family WhatsApp was very active.
The messages we received about how important our family home was to so many people were lovely to read and hear.
We’ve taken great comfort knowing that another family have moved in.
It’s a big deal though and only really hit me last week. Do something nice tonight.

Thank you for your messages.
I’ve spent the afternoon cancelling things and sorting other bits of their estate out.
I must admit that it feels almost like an anticlimax.

However my DH and I are going out for a meal this evening and I will toast mum and dad as dining out was their main pleasure
Once again, Thank you x
