84 year old FIL has had heart valve TAVI surgery. Now needs a long term catheter. Can't look after himself. In an NHS assessment home.
He is getting now stressed and difficult. Anyone else relate? It's dragging us all down. Advice.

Have they fitted a urethral or suprapubic catheter? Care is minimal and can be self managed by emptying the collection bag. Or are they suggesting intermittent self catheterization? This can be more difficult to manage but is less of an infection risk and uses disposable items.
Ask the staff presumably he's on the D2A pathway if he's in a nursing home for assessment? They're best suited to give advice. But I'm happy to send a handhold

He can't attach a leg bag to himself. It's not minimal for him. He's 84 and not dexterous or coordinated.
