Hi my parent is hopefully returning home and will probably need a full care package, although frequency of visits not definitely confirmed yet.

Can anyone give me an idea of costs you're paying for care in this area please?

South Wales here but if she is assessed by SS as needing care the local authority will do a financial assessment. As of two years ago when my mum went into hospital it was capped at One hundred pounds and that was the same if you had one carer once a day or four carers twice a day. I would suggest starting with the local authority and getting the ball rolling asap. Mum was in hospital and waiting for an increase in her care package to four visits a day and that was when staff realised that I could not meet her needs at home even with an increase in carers and visits.

Thanks @IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere a home assessment is being done this week to check suitability for them returning.
I didn't realise there was a cap. So that'd be £100.00 per day?

This is from https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-support/legal-financial/home-care-costs-wales#:~:text=In%20Wales%2C%20the%20threshold%20for,funding%2C%20regardless%20of%20your%20income.

In Wales, the threshold for people who are being cared for at home is £24,000 (for 2021/22). If you have more than this in your savings or other capital you will pay for your own care and be completely self-funding, regardless of your income. There is a maximum weekly charge for care services at home in Wales of £100 (2021/22).

Paying for care in Wales: Support at home

Most local authorities will charge for care provided in someone’s own home. Find out how the costs are calculated

Oh, it's £100.00 cap per week! Thanks for that info @IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere, much appreciated.

Does anyone reading know if there's a cap like that in England? 🤔
