Care home recommendations in Surrey for dementia

Hi all

Has anyone got any personal recommendations for a care home in the Walton on Thames area? My mum has dementia but is also a wanderer and mobile so looking for a place where there are other residents who are similar.

she’s currently in a care home in London which from April will be £1650 per week. Happy with the care but the facilities aren’t great and she doesn’t have her own bathroom.

im hoping for something nicer with that amount of money…

have already been searching online reviews but I’m very wary of them since having bad experiences with some.

please feel free to PM me if you have any recommendations or even ones to avoid!

I worked as a teen at Birtley house in Bramley in Surrey. It’s not quite the geographic area you mention and doesn’t take new residents with dementia (or didn’t when I worked there) but I wonder if they would know of somewhere suitable? I’ve seen them recommended on here recently (I worked there ~20y ago and was very impressed with the care.)

They are family run and the leadership team are lovely, so could be worth asking them
as part of your search.

Thank you @erinaceus - good idea to ask them for recommendations!

Just in case anyone else comes along I viewed the following care homes/have them on the list to see if anyone has any feedback:

Moore Place in Esher
The Burlington in Shepperton
West Hall in West Byfleet
Charrington Manor in West Byfleet

Thanks in advance!
